Frequently Asked Questions
Planning a wedding or special event can be stressful; below please find some of the most frequently asked questions and their answers. The Legacy String Trio loves working directly with clients so please do not hesitate to contact them with further questions or inquiries!
Are you available to meet in person?A member of the trio would be happy to meet with you in person by appointment. We are also happy to take care of all planning via phone and/or email.
|
Do you play before the ceremony? There is typically about 20 minutes of prelude music prior to the start of the ceremony as guests are being seated. The style of music can be tailored to your tastes and special requests.
|
How will you know to begin playing when we are ready to begin the ceremony?A member of our trio will seek out a wedding coordinator or pre-arranged person to signal us to begin playing. We will confirm with the pre-arranged person prior to the start of the ceremony.
|
Will you perform at religious ceremonies?Yes! We have performed for a variety of religious services, including Christian and Jewish wedding ceremonies, holiday masses, and other religious services. For questions regarding specific religious services and ceremonies, please contact us at [email protected].
|
Do you perform outdoors? We are happy to perform outdoors, weather permitting. To ensure the safety of our instruments and quality of music, we are unable to perform in precipitation or extreme temperatures.
Are you willing to travel?Yes, we are willing to travel! Past venues span destinations from Mystic, CT to Falmouth, MA and everything in between. We will consider the time and distance required to travel to your venue and may require a small travel fee for farther destinations.
Do you attend the rehearsal? We typically do not attend rehearsal, but instead we will meet with the wedding coordinator on the day of the event to discuss timing and cueing of ceremony music. A member of the trio may also meet briefly with the officiant as well to ensure smooth transitions throughout the ceremony.
What do you wear for the ceremony or event? We will wear ceremony-appropriate attire to fit the event or service. This often means formal black, however it also depends on the requests of our clients. In the past, we have worn spring formal or business casual to suit the specific needs of clients and the service.
|
Is there somewhere we can hear you perform?Members of the trio perform regularly in orchestras in Rhode Island and in the Boston area. For information regarding performances, follow the our facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/legacystringtrio/.
What do you require at the venue? Our requirements are minimal; we will only need 3 armless chairs and ample space in order to perform at our best. We will provide music and stands. No amplification or additional equipment is needed.
How many pieces do I choose for a ceremony? How do I go about choosing the music?Choosing music for a ceremony or service is a personal and individualized process. We will work with you to provide a repertoire list of suggestions and answer questions regarding music selections. Many traditional wedding ceremonies will have a song selected for the wedding party (i.e. the processional), a song for the bride's entrance, and a song for the couple to walk out of the ceremony to (i.e. the recessional). That being said, the trio is happy to cater to traditional and non-traditional services. If you want to request a song that is not on the current repertoire list, just ask! We are continuously arranging and expanding our music selections to meet the requests of clients.
